Pumpkin Smash is an optional program designed to educate and inspire students to learn about sustainability and composting. Students are taught to remove non-organic elements from their used pumpkins, and compost the rest. Composting lesson plans are available.

School recommended participation fee $150 per school

The inaugural Pumpkin Smash diverted 6,850 pounds of pumpkins from the landfill. Our goal is to double the total this year.

Last year’s inaugural award went to George Washington Carver Elementary School, with over 700 pounds of pumpkins collected and included zero contamination! (They removed all the glitter and candles).
